"I have always believed cycling offers so much. Whether you do it for a healthy lifestyle, a way to spend time with family and friends, an outlet for your energy away from the stresses of life, or with aspirations to race, or for other reasons. The sport has a technical side involving equipment and clothing and a physical side which at times can demand extreme suffering. Finally a mental side where a rider can be pushed to limits never thought possible. - Kevin Livingston"

    The latest...

It's been a while since my last blog update, so here's a pre Big Island Stage Race entry...

No real highlights over the past week... Got hit by a car's wheel cover that ejected right as the car passed me. No damage. Phew!

The past couple of weeks have involved reloading the base miles with more time spend in the saddle, and not so much painful intervals. That happy time is coming to an end and I'm transitioning back into the daily leg thrashings.

Last Sunday morning I did a group ride with Shannon, Casey, Voytek, and Ben. We lost Ben at about mile 1 after he flatted a sewup. (Lesson = Don't train on sewup's in HI, or anywhere unless you've got a follow car). We did a quick scoot around Makapu'u, through the Waimanalo back roads, Olomana (with a few hard race type efforts), Kailua, then back to town. Plenty time spent fighting the wind, seated climbs in 53 x 11, and chasing cars at 38mph. Great ride!

Sunday afternoon was our team's chamois party... Time to get everyone together in the new team kits, and eat a ton of food!

Looks like our little team is growing pretty fast!

Other big news for me is that after wanting a Subaru Impreza for about 10yrs, I finally got one. OK, it's not the STI, but the WRX has plenty horsepower to write speeding tickets if it so wishes!
