    New job

On Friday morning I threw my laptop and some other stuff in my backpack and rode to town, then over Pali to meet Lelong at Auloa Rd. We rode around Makapu'u and back to Honolulu. For me, it turned out to be about 60 miles of riding. Normally that wouldn't wreck my body so much, but the 20lbs of shit in my backpack added to the fun. I wore a couple of patches on my spine until they were looking a bit raw, and the tendons/ligaments around my knees weren't overly happy with the extra baggage either.

Not long after getting to town, I got a call... My week of living the life of a full-time athlete had come to an end! I got the job that I interviewed for on Thursday, and start on Monday. So far the new job looks like it's going to have a lot of pro's - A 3-minute commute from my apartment, and less hours than my old job! That combination means that I can up my training load with morning and evening workouts... Back to the way I trained before my old job. This can only mean that I'll have way better form for the 2009 race season!

I got in a couple hours of riding on Sunday but my knees were hurting a bit from Friday's ride. LA and I checked out "The Stage" at the Honolulu Design Center for dinner. The service was so-so, but the food was pretty damn good.

I decided to take Sunday off the bike to get plenty sleep, and let my knees recover. LA and I drove over to Iriquois Point for a free concert - John Cruz. Small concert, nice location just off the beach, and a nice atmosphere... Well, minus the overhead Honolulu air traffic every 5 mins.
