    The form is arriving...

I've had some pain in my right sholder / neck since Friday so decided to take Saturday as a rest day from training. Well, not a total rest as I did a mini hike up the top section of Tantalus with L.A. I rained a little when we started but we decided to keep going thinking that the rain shower would blow over. Wrong... The rain just kept getting worse and it didn't take long before we were totally drenched. We didn't make the top, but it was still a fun hike... I think!

View of Diamondhead from Tantalus. It's SO green up there because it rains almost daily!

Today I went out for a little sweetspot workout in the morning. I did the typical Sandy Beach loop that I've done 100's of times, with my previous fastest time being about 1hr 20mins on the TT bike. I rode today's 27 mile loop starting from the convention center, going through Waikiki, Kahala, Kalanianaole Hwy, over Hanauma Bay and past Sandy's. I then took a left towards Kalama Valley, down heartbreak hill, back onto Kalanianaole Hwy, then back home via Waialae Ave. I made it to the traffic lights after Sandy's in 37mins, and back to my start point in 1hr 8mins! Compared to any previous rides I've done over the same route, today was seriously fast, and I think I hurt my legs pretty good.

A few more rides like this, in addition to some climbing workouts, and I should be have some good form for the 9130ft climb up Mauna Kea on Aug 9th, peaked for Haleakala on Aug 24th, and have enough form to rock out at Dick Evans on Aug 31st. After DEMRR I'll be putting my feet up for a bit, unless I get the call to race US Crit Series Finals in Vegas later in Sept.
