"I won't race ever again. When I was winning, it was lonely at the top. I was never happy. I had to completely remove myself from distractions, no friends, no life. It was the only way to dedicate oneself to the sport, and I can't do that again. I don't regret my approach, it's the way of a champion. - Geneviève Jeanson"

    Climbing good...

Tonight's training ride was a damn good one. 4 x 7min intervals at 345-360w changing cadence every minute (60-80-100-110-100-80-60rpm)... 60rpm in the 53 ring is fun, 80rpm is in the 39 is comfortable. 100rpm starts to require mega concentration, but 110rpm.... Damn! By the time I finished each set my body felt all contorted... As the saying goes "What doesn't kill you, might kill you the next time".

At the end of interval 4. Oh, and I picked up a Giro Ionos helmet last week. Damn nice! Finally I've found a helmet that fits my head like a glove, well, a head-shaped glove! The ventilation is awesome - Might look similar to the Giro Atmos, but it keeps my head way cooler.

After those I was feeling pretty good and headed through Waikiki and around Diamondhead throwing down the power. Waikiki was even more hairy than normal! I'm cruising at 30-32mph on wet roads, then two tourists on the mauku side of Kalakaua Ave decided that Waikiki beach is so pretty, they HAVE to get to the makai side, and forgot that there's a road between! Next thing I know, they're running across the road. "Did she see me? Yup, she did... I think, she's going to stop, NO!, sh*t!, she's not stopping, she hasn't looked..." I ended up having to hop onto the sidewalk then back onto the road to avoid hitting her. CLOSE one.

    If I did hit her...

    ... She'd have been KTFO!
