"If you're an athlete, if you're anybody, anyone with a brain know thats two of the most important things for happiness and performance in your life whether you're a cameraman, or a teacher, or an athlete, is rest and food. If you don't have those two things dialled in pretty well you're not going to be near to your 100% capability of performance. - Bode Miller (American Skier / Olympian)"

    Update

It's been a couple days since I posted an update on here so I thought I'd write something before the weekend. This Sunday is the Castle - Hanauma TT which is one of my favorite TT's on O'ahu - Probably because it's a point to point course, has a climb in the middle, and a longer climb to the finish. In some ways it's a little similar to the TT course at the Central Valley Classic, but shorter (approx 12 miles).

On Wednesday I did a TT workout on the Cervelo P3 and finished up with 16mins spent at 32.3mph at 361w. Not a bad ride, and nice to get it done in daylight.

Tonight (Thu) I planned to ride out to Makapu'u on the P3, then decided to keep going to Waimanalo, then Olomana. By the time I got to Olomana I figured that I might as well keep going on the highway to Maunawili elementary school and ride the Castle-Hanauma TT course for kicks. I rode it as a tempo ride and still managed to clock 29mins. Depending on the wind, maybe I'm up for setting a new-course record this Sunday. It would be nice to add another to the list, but in the world of cycling, anything can and will happen!

Ho Brah! You part bullet or what?? I felt choke watts when you buzzed by!

Kat and I made it out at 0545, got some really yummy hot cocoa just in time to see the #1 starter barreling down (up-hill really) at mach 937. So fast we didn't even have time to say "Haggis", we wouldn't have even recognized you if it wasn't for your kilt trailing in the wind. We brought a Red Bull and a doughnut for you but I guess you didn't have time to chat. Anyways, I think we were at the 1.75Mi. mark in front of 7-11, the number 2 starter didn't showup for at least 2 minutes... Very confusing, what happened? The police officers working traffic control thought the race may have been postponed. The next 155 riders had nothing close to your power and focus.

After watching the other 156 or so riders turtle by we got bored but did cheer and clap for them - hope you're not mad....

There was one guy that was kinda going fast but probably not fast enough so Kathleen threw one 35lb.(not-so-fresh) Ono in front of him to try and help him catch up. I thought it might motivate him too but I guess not! - he got all pissed off and yelled a few very inappropriate words at us then continued on his way. Despite his words, we still hope we helped his time, you need the competition, yea?.

We met A.C. and Dave at the starting line, they're nice!

We're just gonna go out on a limb and predict you have more than just a paper No. 1 on your jersey right now.

Hope it all went well, call us and let me know when you get time.

Thanks Mike and GREAT JOB! We had blast.

P.S. - Kathleen was wondering if there's a way she can race too - she has a pretty cool red Schwinn tricycle with a regulation size orange Elmo safety flag. Didn't see anyone else on tricycles so thought we might start a new class. She could have sponsors too if it all worked out. Maybe even carbon fiber! I told her she'd probably need to get rid of her handlebar basket; a little hesitant but she's serious so no prob. Are you still coaching?
